Gingko Definition
What Is Gingko?

Also spelled Ginkgo, this herb is harvested from the leaf of the Gingko Biloba tree, one of the world’s oldest surviving tree species. Gingko helps to provide greater mental alertness and concentration by increasing neurotransmitter activity. Gingko is the extracts from the leaves of maidenhair tree, Gingko biloba which are used as herbal remedy. They contain potentially active flavonoids and terpenes, but there is limited evidence of efficacy. Gingko has a tonic action on several aspects of neural functioning, stabilisation of neural and muscular membranes, removal of toxic metaboilites, normalisation of transmitter concentrations, and maintenance of appropriate levels of important electrolytes. Gingko activates beta receptors in muscles and organs including brain, and dilating airways in the lung and blood vessels. Because of its capacity to release catecholamines, gingko could affect the heart, blood vessels and nervous system. Gingko act as an antioxidant also. Gingko was active against cerebral disorders due to aging. Gingko can be used to increase mental performance.
